GIA Lab-Grown Diamonds
Shop our lab-grown diamond collection with the Report filter set to GIA — the grading lab most jewelers and appraisers consider the industry benchmark. Every stone below is chemically, physically, and optically identical to a mined diamond, graded on the same familiar 4Cs scale.
Does GIA Certify Lab-Grown Diamonds?
Yes. GIA (the Gemological Institute of America) has been grading laboratory-grown diamonds since 2007, and every report is clearly marked "Laboratory-Grown" so there's never any confusion about how the stone was created. Since 2021, GIA has also offered a streamlined Lab-Grown Diamond Report in addition to its full Diamond Grading Report, both scored on the exact same Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat scale used for natural diamonds.
GIA doesn't hold lab-grown diamonds to a different standard — an F color is an F color regardless of origin. What sets GIA apart is consistency: its graders have a reputation as the most conservative in the business, so a GIA grade is rarely, if ever, inflated. That's precisely why we carry GIA-certified lab-grown diamonds and let you isolate them instantly with the Report filter above.
IGI vs GIA for Lab-Grown Diamonds: Which Is Better?
IGI certifies the majority of lab-grown diamonds sold today, and its reports are thorough and internationally recognized. GIA, on the other hand, is the lab jewelers and appraisers most often trust when a grade absolutely cannot be second-guessed — its grading tends to run slightly stricter than IGI's on the identical stone, so a diamond IGI calls VS1 might come back VS2 under GIA's more conservative read.
Neither lab is universally "better" — it comes down to what matters most to you. Pick GIA if you want maximum resale confidence, the most conservative grade for insurance purposes, or you're buying a larger, investment-grade stone where paperwork carries real weight. Pick IGI if a wider selection or slightly better perceived value at the same stated grade is the priority. For most of our GIA customers, it comes down to one thing: knowing the grade on paper is exactly what they'll see under a loupe.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a GIA-certified lab-grown diamond a real diamond?
Yes. It shares the identical chemical makeup, hardness, and brilliance of a mined diamond. The only thing GIA notes on the report is that it was grown in a lab instead of formed underground.
Does a GIA report cost more than an IGI report?
GIA-certified lab-grown diamonds usually carry a modest premium over IGI-certified stones of the same grade, reflecting GIA's stricter grading and lower lab-grown volume — though both stay 50–70% below a comparable mined diamond.
How do I see only GIA-certified diamonds in this search?
The Report filter above is already set to GIA, so every diamond shown is GIA-certified. You're free to change or clear the filter at any time to include IGI-certified stones too.
Will a GIA report be accepted by U.S. insurers and appraisers?
Yes. GIA reports are the most widely recognized in the U.S. by insurers and independent appraisers, making them a smart choice if you plan to insure or later have your diamond professionally appraised.
