    PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS

If you are looking for aengagement ring that accentuates the beauty, fire and brilliance of the diamond centre stone then look no further than a Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Ring.

As its name suggests, the Princess cut is style of diamond cutting that provides the wearer with a diamond that is seen fit to grace the hand of many a Royal princess. This iconic cut is one of the most popular with brides-to-be looking for that very special engagement ring as it was designed to showcase the brilliance and lustre of diamond at its very best.

Princess Diamond Engagement Rings Cut was designed to gain maximum brilliance from the diamond by the combination of a round cut with sharp uncut corners that really does bring out the best in the diamond providing you with an engagement ring with the wow factor.

Combine a Princess Cut diamond with a tapered band and an exquisite engagement ring is created that is very simply timeless classic with a modern twist.  The design of a tapering band helps to beautifully showcase Princess Cut diamond, accentuating its sparkle by making the centre stone look bigger so ensuring that all eyes are focussed on the diamond within the Princess Cut Diamond Engagement RingAs the ring is thicker on the bottom half of the shank this will help to retain strength so making this design of engagement ring very suitable for those with a modern active lifestyle.

HOW DO I RECOGNISE A PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING?

Essentially a Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Ring is recognised by its distinctive inverted pyramid profileA Princess Cut diamond generally displays 57 or 76 facets and has a typical ratio of 1.0 to 1.05. The face of the diamond is either rectangular face or flat-square. The unique faceting and four bevelled sides that create the pyramidal shape of a Princess Cut combine to make this cut of diamond renowned for its light reflecting properties which are far great than other square diamond cuts.

In recent years Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Rings have become more popular than the classical round brilliant cut. The simple reason for this is that that a Princess Cut diamond of the same width and diameter as a round brilliant will weigh more. This is because when cutting a round brilliant diamond the four corners are cut off and rounded yet the Princess Cut retains this material so creating extra weight of up to 15%.

WHO DESIGNED PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RINGS?

Princess Diamond Engagement Rings are a relatively new design in comparison to some of the diamond cuts. The term ‘Princess Cut’ was originally used in connection with another diamond cut, otherwise known as the "profile" cut. In 1961 the term Princess Cut was designed by Arpad Nagy, a London diamond cutter. The same name was later used and made popular by Ygal Perlman, Betzalel Ambar, and Israel Itzkowitz in Israel in 1979.

WHAT SHAPES CAN I CHOOSE FROM FOR MY PRINCESS DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING?

There are two variations of the Princess cut diamond that can be chosen to make a Princess Diamond Engagement Ring. These are a square or rectangular crown and it is undoubtedly this versatility of the Princess cut that it makes it so popular for use in engagement rings.

The rectangular Princess cut is created by cutting the rough diamond to a length-to-width ratio of between 1.10 and 1.20. Square Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Ringwhich do command a higher price than their rectangular counterpartsexhibit a length-to-width ratio of between 1 and 1.05.

You may also have seen Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Rings that have the stunningly beautiful effect of looking at crushed ice. This is created by the addition of more chevrons on the pavilion side of the diamond so that the individual facets of the diamond are broken down into smaller facets to create this style.  This effect is very individualistic and is well suited to a Princess Diamond Engagement Ring to be worn by a self-confident modern woman.

WE HAVE A SET BUDGET, ARE PRINCESS CUT ENGAGEMENT RINGS DIAMONDS AFFORDABLE?

The simple answer to this question is yes purchasing a Princess Cut Engagement Ring is aaffordable option for those shopping on a budget.  The reason for this, which in no way detracts from the quality and appeal of a Princess Cut diamond, is that due to the cutting procedure there is very little wastage and labour is less intensive.

Princess Cut diamonds tend to have a slightly lower price-per-carat than round cut diamonds. This is largely due to the fact that the four sided pyramid shape of the Princess Cut diamond is similar to one half of the octahedron rough stone from which a Princess Diamond is cut. This similarity allows two equally sized Princess Cut diamonds to be cut from the same rough stone with relatively little waste The greater efficiency, or yield, means that a Princess cut diamond becomes a far more economical gemstone for a jewellery cutter to produce which can then be reflected in an affordable price.

HOW DO I CHOOSE A PRINCESS CUT DIAMOND ENGAGEMENT RING

In selecting the very best Princess Cut Diamond Engagement Ring for your budget be sure to check that you are purchasing a certified Ideal cut. This will provide you with a diamond of the best quality that displays brilliance and sparkle.

Princess Diamond Engagement Ring should always be set with prongs that protect the four corners which are the most likely location for chipping of the diamond Due to the fact that these corners were once near the outer edge of the rough diamond, flaws such as naturals, extra facets, and other inclusions may be located here. Since the corners are covered by the prongs, these flaws will be invisible once the diamond is set.
