ART DECO ENGAGEMENT RINGS

The Art Deco era exerted a profound influence on the jewelry industry, especially for those who appreciate bold and elaborate designs. Art Deco-inspired rings showcase an avant-garde appearance with geometric patterns, straight lines, and vibrant colors.

These designs were reflective of the times. In the 1920s, as women gained newfound freedoms and the economy prospered, there was a surge in experimental fashion. Symbolizing this newfound freedom, rings incorporated diverse cultural influences from Native America, Asia, and Europe. They featured contrasting colorful gemstones designed to capture attention. Additionally, diamonds were popular, symbolizing the luxurious lifestyles of the 1920s.

Art Deco Engagement Rings

A notable feature of Art Deco rings was the use of gemstones. Typically, a standout gemstone would be placed in the center, surrounded by smaller gemstones like turquoise, coral, emerald, and ruby. Although diamonds were a popular choice, especially for engagement rings, they were not the exclusive focus.

There are three main styles of Art Deco rings to choose from: square setting, horizontal, and domed band. The square setting highlights a Round Cut diamond at the center of a square setting, designed to showcase the diamond’s brilliance. The horizontal setting, also known as East-West, features a bar-like arrangement of the feature gemstone set lengthwise, often interspersed with other gemstones and multiple diamonds, including sapphires and emeralds. Lastly, the domed band style features a band that narrows at the back and widens at the front, featuring intricate filigree designs such as geometric leaf shapes and floral patterns, with diamonds placed at the center of this type of ring.
